At Connecticut GC we believe hockey is the best sport in the world.

Not just for the game, but for the character it builds in young players.

Too many programs push kids too hard, too early. The result? Burnout by age 12. We’re changing that.

Our program focuses on the foundations—skating, puck control, and a love of the game—so kids can thrive long-term.

Our philosophy: Hockey is like a language.

You don’t start reading by jumping into The Odyssey. Similarly, you don’t start with full games—we start with the basics. Just like learning a language, kids need to know their A-B-C’s before they write a novel.

Our mite program helps young players become fluent in hockey by focusing on:

What Makes Our Mite Program Different

  • 4 hours/week on ice — nearly 90 hours total

  • No travel — skate at just two local rinks

  • No tryouts — attitude and effort are what matter

  • No games vs. other teams — we scrimmage in-house

  • Fall-sport friendly — season starts in October

What a typical practice looks like

  • 20–30 minutes: Skill development

  • 10 minutes: Fun!

  • 20–30 minutes: Small-area gameplay
